I never did make it to Hollywood
I never got that Nashville dream.
Strange I turned up playing an old guitar
on some deserted sunny beach.
I could cry about the dreams I missed
If I only had a little more time
But the moon is rising as the sun sets low
So I got to build a bonfire
and pour another glass of wine.

Running
Find the silence if you think you can
It’s not so easy anymore
I used to care so much about
Which road I ran
But I’m not running anymore.
I wanted to be some kind of a hero
It just did not come to pass
Maybe some kind of a rock star
But it was not in my path.
I ran the back roads like everyone else
I never had much fear of dying.
It would not matter if you cry or run
We all have just so much time.
I escaped it once before in my past
But it will be back around.
I just hope when it finds me
I’m wide awake
If it sneaks up from behind.
The Road Ahead
We all know the road ahead
It’s no secret where we are going
You don’t realize when you are young
That we all ride the same train
Time
Silence and time scare me the most
They are the same emptiness
Only silence can be changed
Time just runs on like a train
It passes in silence
When there is no silence the train stands still
I want to make a sound that breaks the night
Beat the drums like a pack of wolves
Raise the moon right into the sky
Chase it west till the earth stands still
Misfits
Here we are a bunch of misfits floating on a raft
In an endless sea from a shady past
No wind to blow the sail I see
The dust on my desk is getting deep
Sometimes it all just gets to me
And I no longer sleep
Where is the spark in this endless sea
I can’t find it like it can’t be found
My fingers struggle just to make a sound
No one would notice if I fell off and drowned
Moment
Always waiting for a moment
To pass you by
A couple of moments
Might just make you cry
Who would have known
If a couple stitches saved in time
Might have been enough to save one of your nine lives
Passion
So many so strong
With such great passion for so long
I’m so frail and I’m so weak
Why would I even try to speak
The road has been so very rough
And I’m so beaten down
But they don’t know what is coming up
When time comes slipping around
When you set out on this road
You think you can touch the sun
The world falls apart around you
You pick up the pieces and run
Pick a different song
Find a new rainbow to guide you
Love the night so long
Get the sunrise in your eyes
RainDrops
Every note I play
is a drop of my blood
A stain in time where I once stood.
So many notes left, yet to be
How many drops can be left in me.
Once the notes fell like rain.
I did not care from where they came.
I let them fall where ever they may
On drunken ears talking as I played.
So few left now, I know its true
So please take a note
if I play one for you.
I squeeze the last drops
from this aching hand
Let it calm the storm inside this man
It has all the hope I have left in me.
And I know in the end
it will set me free.
When the last drop falls
you’ll know it’s true.
My greatest joy was to play a tune.
Night
Don’t let the night be a stranger
Don’t let the darkness
chase you away
The world is coming up around you
It’s a gift just like the sunrise
Don’t waste your turn to play
From The Beginning
There are so many songs about time, ticking away,
Time is on my side but still it waits for no one.
Time is not your friend, not a friend to anyone.
Time is not on your side. Foolish Pride.
It’s here to make you run.
The sun is going to chase you every single day
into the darkness, where you may feel safe.
Then it comes back again tearing up the night
with the burning light exposing all your life.
You will never get away
as it chases you through each burning day,
and soon you’ll lose track of all time.
One night in the darkness
you might see where your life has gone
and you know the sun is a coming
but your just too tired to run.
I remember waiting for the sunrise,
so many times we sat up all night.
Every sunrise a miracle as it burst into our eyes.
Its ticking down the moments that remain in our small lives,
but I cannot hate the sun the way a dead man hates the gun.
It has given me the warmth I needed
and filled my darkness with the light.
So I spent the day thinking about the tracks of time
n the ones who brought me to life.
Yes they had it tough, they had it bad.
They had good times and they had the sad.
A child always faces a world more complex
than the simple lives that brought you to be.
We did not see it before they were gone
nor the fights they had won that brought us along
through the pain and the changes
that lead us here down through the ages,
where generations have passed through the portal of time.
The young ones get set at the starting line.
