Daddy was a hard man,
but it’s not the way it seems.
His daddy was even harder,
he had ice running in his veins.
Daddy had small dreams,
a little house just for Mom.
A simple life would be just fine,
for her and the little ones.
When your dreams are so small
and the battles fought are so grand
It’s hard to explain why but,
This world can ruin all plans.
It changes that loving face,
No longer filled with grace,
Now stern and bold, hard and cold,
To fight this world and this war to the bitter end.
Daddy I did love, but we did not have the time.
This world has taken you from me.
It just was not right.
So once again I face the grand enemy of us all.
This is the war you fought for your entire life.
Time keeps on ticking stealing our lives.
It breaks people down and leaves smashed dreams as you die.
I may spend my life fighting
With the ticking clock and other battles not fought
But I will not lose the faith in my own thoughts
I will rock and I will roll.
You will hear me in the heavens.
and feel me in your soul.
I will burn the sun and stop the wind
Boil the sea and drown the moon
Well if I could you know I would
I would do it all for you.
